What is AMEB?
AMEB stands for Australian Music Examinations Board. As one of the most respected bodies in this field, AMEB's qualifications are recognised as a national benchmark across Australia. AMEB examinations are based on syllabuses designed by leading scholars and performers, regularly updated to ensure that they reflect an appropriate range of performance skills and the latest musicological research.
Why should I do an AMEB exam?
You don't have to enrol in an AMEB exam in order to use the AMEB books during your learning journey. For some players, having a clearly defined goal and upcoming exam can be a powerful motivating force. Each candidate who completes an AMEB exam receives a written report, and each successful AMEB candidate receives an official certificate recognising their achievement. If you're not sure whether an exam would be right for you, have a chat with your teacher.
Can I choose other sheet music for my AMEB exam?
Each AMEB book includes a selection of repertoire from each AMEB list, so you're able to complete exams. Alternative repertoire is permitted, given it is listed in the current AMEB Syllabus. If you're not sure whether or not your repertoire is suitable, discuss with your teacher or consult an AMEB Manual of Syllabus.
Where can I do an AMEB exam?
