Frequently Asked Questions
How does the assessment process work?
Our specialist team will visit your school to assess your instruments for repairs and maintenance. Or, if you’d prefer, instruments can be brought to our Red Hill store to avoid incurring a travel fee. Each and every instrument is recorded, including size, model, asset or equipment numbers, and all repair or servicing work identified by our team.
What happens after my instruments are assessed?
Once assessed, we will provide an itemised quote of all repairs to be undertaken. This means that you will have a concise record of the condition of your instruments, and complete transparency of the work required to bring your instruments to a correctly maintained and playable condition which your students will enjoy using.
How much does the assessment cost?
Assessment cost depends on the number of instruments and whether you would like it completed on-site at your school. Our fee starts from $150, and our team will provide a customised quote once the form has been submitted.
Are there discounted servicing prices for Simply for Strings instruments?
Yes. Because of the confidence we have in the quality of our set-ups, repairs on SFS-purchased instruments will be eligible for discounted servicing prices. This also includes instruments which have received an SFS set-up in recent years.
Can you assess instruments purchased from other retailers?
Of course. We are happy to assess and discuss the viability of repairs on instruments from other retailers, which will be charged at our normal rates.
Please bear in mind that SFS-bought or SFS-setup instruments will be prioritised.
When do I need to approve my repairs?
With approval of your repairs quote prior to Friday 11 December 2026, we will be able to organise redelivery of your repaired instruments by the end of Week 4, Term 1 (18 Feb 2027).
What happens if I approve my quote after 11 December 2026?
We provide no guarantee of delivery dates for repair quotes approved after 11 December 2026. Repairs brought to us or approved in the new year typically require 4–6 weeks due to the volume of instruments we process during this time.
Do I need budget pre-approval?
Yes, communicate with your line manager, accounts officer, head of department, or similar representative prior to our visit to discuss your potential budget or pre-approval amount. Payments will not be due until 12 February 2027, but we will require written approval to proceed with any work on school instruments by Friday 11 December 2026.
What if I work at multiple schools?
If you work at multiple schools, consider combining your instruments for assessment at one location. The less distance we need to travel, the smaller the travel fee.
When is payment due?
Payments will be due on 12 February 2027. Should you require a more flexible time frame, or would like to split your payment, this can be arranged by calling us on (07) 3368 3666.
